Both of Us
"Both of Us" is a 10-minute VR narrative film exploring human connection in a technologically mediated world. Two estranged friends reunite in a dystopian future to confront their shared past. As my MFA thesis, it blends cinematic storytelling with VR's unique capacity for presence and perspective.
Narrative Concept
In a dystopian future dominated by VR experiences from the TCR corporation, resistance fighters Omar and Mark reunite for a final mission. The film creates a meta-narrative by placing viewers directly in this world, questioning if this virtual reality is worth saving. The structure utilizes VR's unique ability to show multiple perspectives, creating personal connections between scenes.

VR Filmmaking Approach
We blended traditional filmmaking with VR technology, using photogrammetry to create detailed 3D environments. Volumetric capture allowed viewers to experience performances from multiple angles, creating an immersive yet coherent narrative experience.

Visual Storytelling
The film balances intimate close-ups with expansive wide shots to convey character emotions. The visual style is deliberately raw and authentic, reflecting the characters' vulnerability and drawing viewers deeper into their world.

Production & Impact
Created with a small team, "Both of Us" showcases the power of independent filmmaking through creative collaboration. The film has been submitted to festivals and aims to spark dialogue about human relationships and empathy in our increasingly digital world.
