Behind The Anger is an innovative augmented reality application that transforms traditional card games into immersive mixed-reality experiences. As project leader, I coordinated a multidisciplinary team to create AR content that brings game characters to life through 3D animations, voice acting, and interactive storytelling elements.

AR Gaming Innovation

Traditional card games face challenges in competing with dynamic digital entertainment. Behind The Anger addresses this by bridging physical and digital gameplay without abandoning the tactile experience that makes card games special. Using marker-based AR technology, players simply point their device at cards to unlock 3D character models, voice acting, and expanded lore that reveals backstories impossible to convey through static imagery alone.

Game Mechanics

The AR experience features four core mechanics that enhance traditional gameplay: 3D character animations that spring to life from cards, immersive audio including character voices and ambient sounds, interactive storytelling elements that reveal character backstories, and mini-games that provide deeper understanding of game mechanics. The application maintains focus on the physical cards while adding substantial digital value through contextual AR overlays.

Development Highlights

Built using Unity3D with ARKit and ARCore for cross-platform compatibility, the project required extensive optimization for mobile performance while maintaining visual quality. Key technical achievements include reliable card recognition under variable lighting conditions, cloud-based content delivery for remote updates, and seamless integration between physical and digital assets. As team leader, I coordinated between card game publishers and developers, managed project timelines, and ensured creative consistency across all touchpoints.
